One of the most sought-after places to live for the wealthy in New York City is on the market for a sizzling $88 million. Former Citigroup CEO Sandy Weill’s penthouse takes up an entire floor on top of a 20-story building, one of two that make up 15 Central Park West. Perched high above the city, it offers views of Central Park and beyond from the garden and terrace areas that wrap around three sides of the penthouse leading to a smaller apartment the Weills own on another floor. Covering over 2,000 square feet, the terrace is bigger than most middle-class condos. The floor plan reveals the home has 19 glass-door openings to the terrace. If the penthouse does sell for the asking price, it would be the biggest apartment sale in all of Manhattan.

The 6,744-square-foot penthouse has four bedrooms, 4.5 baths, living room with wet bar, den with bar, a library, gallery, gourmet kitchen and two fireplaces. The oval-shaped master bedroom was designed by Mr. Weill’s request so that he could wake up and see the sun rising over Central Park.

Mr. Weill, 78, and wife Joan Weill paid more than $43 million for the penthouse when the building opened in 2007.  Reports say the Weills want to downsize, and plan to donate some of the proceeds of the sale to charity.
